Woodturning: Turn Your First Pen

In this introduction to turning for beginners, you will learn set-up and safety on a lathe while turning a small spindle. You will also learn how to prep a pen blank, choose a set of blanks, and turn them. Once they are turned to your preference, you will finish and assemble your own pen that you will take home!
More pen kits will be available for small cost if you finish and would like to make more.
Closed toed shoes are required.
Materials will be supplied. We will have a short break for lunch. Please bring your own or eat before the class.

Byron Albert is a Fort Houston original gangster. He’s been with us since our early days, turning and helping manage the wood shop. As one of our more dedicated members, Byron has found a place in Fort Houston as everyone’s big bro, lending advice and assistance where needed. A computer guy by day, he has mastered his turning skills in the wood shop.
